Welcome to Briarlake Elementary School

Briarlake Elementary School is located in Decatur, DeKalb County, Georgia. BES celebrated 50 years of serving children in 2008. We have Pre-K - 5th grades as well as the deaf and hard of hearing program. Briarlake is a 2002 Georgia School of Excellence and has been awarded the 2003 Parent Involvement School of Excellence by the National PTA.

Briarlake is a small neighborhood school with a wonderful staff supported by our parents and the community. Our PTA organizes events and activities throughout the year. We hope all of our families will find ways to be involved and participate.

CAR POOL: Please remember there are NO LEFT TURNS into the school driveways.
IMPORTANT REMINDER FOR PARENTS! School begins at 8:00 AM. If your child arrives after 8:00 a.m. you must bring your child inside and fill out a tardy slip. Also on very cold mornings we do not ask staff and patrols to stay outside opening car doors, so allow yourself extra time on those days. The number of tardies has increased dramatically recently. We have staff on duty to accept students as early as 7:30 each morning. Please realize that everyone cannot arrive at 7:55 and expect to be on time.
