Save the Date: 9/14! Letter from our neighbors at Briarlake Baptist Church: We are preparing for our Community Service Day 2014. We are planning the event for Sunday, September 14th, from 12:00 - 4:0o PM. Briarlake Church will be having a free pancake breakfast that morning at 9:30, worship at 11:00, and be at the schools, ready to work, by 12:00. We would like to invite you and all of your volunteers that want to work with us that day to breakfast. More information the week before the event.
Our PTA Campus Beautification Committee will work with the volunteers from Briarlake Baptist on several projects around the school. This will be a great day to come out and help get our beautiful school yard cleaned up for some fall planting activities as well as complete some projects inside the building. A sign-up genie will be posted next week.
This year's theme is "The world would be a better place if..."

Michele Beule: Reflections Chair
Summer PTA Meeting-Briarlake PTA meets during the summer to plan for the upcoming year. The budget and events are discussed for all interested PTA members. Come and meet the officers and help make plans for the year.
Open House - Briarlake opens its doors to all parents and students on the Wednesday before the first day of school. This is an opportunity to see the school, visit the classrooms, meet the teachers, sign up for the PTA, purchase school spirit clothing and volunteer.
Parent Welcome Coffee - A get together on the first day of school to welcome parents new and returning.
Curriculum Night Held in August - Meet the teachers and staff and learn about the curriculum offered in each department. (Parents Only) Volunteer Rally held prior to the meeting - find out how you can be involved at Briarlake.
Reflections Fall Reflections takes place during the fall semester. Students prepare an entry in visual arts, literature, music or photography. Entries are judged at the local level, with the top winners in each category moving on to the next level(s) of competition (i.e., county, state, and national competitions.
Ice Cream Social - An evening to enjoy ice cream at school with friends and families.
Briarlake Boost Kick-off - Our annual fundraiser begins at the Ice Cream Social. Read more about the fundraising effort on the Fundraising page.
School Pictures - Smile! Individual pictures taken each fall. Class pictures usually taken in the spring.
International Walk to School Day - held in October to promote fitness and friendship. This international awareness day encourages all students to walk to school.
Fall Festival - A fun atmosphere of games, food, haunted house and crafters market. This is one of our favorite events of the year!
Storyteller Night - Enjoy a family night with a storyteller.
Book Fair - A Scholastic Fair in the fall where students and parents can shop for books.
Thanksgiving Lunch - Enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving lunch with your child(ren) and be thankful for our wonderful school.
Holiday Program - An evening of music by the PreK-2nd grades will delight your ears.
Winter Used Book Sale - Save books for our annual used book sale. A great time to pick up lots of cheap reads!
Grandparents' Day - annual tradition of inviting grandparents to join grandchildren for lunch, usually held on Valentines Day.
Kindergarten Round-up - Briarlake staff and administration provide information for upcoming kindergarten parents about the kindergarten program at Briarlake. Meet the teachers, get a glimpse into what kindergarten is like, provide all the paperwork required to enroll your child and meet other kindergarten-to-be parents.
International Night- A time to celebrate the many cultures that make up the Briarlake community. Music, food, displays and more.
Briarlake Healthy Habits Fun Run - The Fun Run is open to all Briarlake families and the community. Walk or run the 5K or the 1 mile. Time to get healthy!
Field Day is the time when Briarlake students spend the day outside with their teachers and peers participating in a variety of athletic and fun events.
Family Picnic - Our spring celebration and family night.
Awards Day - A morning to celebrate the achievements of all of our students.
Ongoing PTA Activities:
Campus Clean-Up Days - Several times a year Briarlake invites parents, teachers, students and the community to help spruce up around our school.
Terrific Thursdays - Throughout the year, treats like lunch, breakfast, dessert are provided to the staff as our thank you for all they do. Each classroom will coordinate this event with their parents once during the year.
Briarlake Walk to School Days - Time to get out of the cars and walk to school. The Safe Routes to School committee coordinates walk to school days throughout the school year. Please join us for these great healthy, community events.
Spirit Nights: a percentage of the sales comes back to our PTA
Chick-fil-A Night-Several evenings during the year Briarlake families are welcomed to the Chick-fil-A at the LaVista Road location for dinner. This is a fun time to get together with other Briarlake families.
Uncle Maddio's-Enjoy a pizza dinner at the restaurant in Northlake Festival.
Special Programs - Many programs have been planned for our Briarlake students. These are brought to the school by our Cultural Events Committee. Programs take place during the school day.

Be sure to join the Briarlake PTA! A proud and longstanding Briarlake tradition is to have 100% participation in our PTA. We are great supporters of our school and we hope you will join us. It is only $5.00 per adult but that money will go a long way toward helping our school. Memberships will be available at Open House, and Curriculum Night.

Mixed paper is being recycled at Briarlake. We will accept newspapers, office paper, colored construction paper, magazines, and cardboard. Please DO NOT include staples, laminated paper, or envelopes with windows or metal clasps.
