Briarlake PTA earns membership
awards
Congratulations to
our Briarlake PTA members! We are
currently at
427 members and have earned the Visionary Pin and
Certificate. This is awarded to PTAs submitting
dues for 400 or more members to the Georgia PTA by
the last business day in August. This is the
highest award you can receive in August.
HOWEVER, we still need more members to
reach our target goal. The target goal is one
paid PTA member for each student enrolled plus a paid
PTA member for each certified teachers on
staff. We currently have 433 students enrolled and
a large number of certified teachers. We
would like to earn the Platinum Membership
Award in September by reaching this
goal. So please sign up today and
support Briarlake's PTA. It is only $5 for a
membership. All are welcome. Send
your money to school addressed to Christy Van
Horn. Thank you, Christy for all your hard work
to help us obtain these awards and
goals!

A shout-out goes
to:
KATE
HANSEN !!!
"Way to go, super, wonderful,
amazing!"
Our very own Kate has successfully
completed her chemotherapy! Much of our Briarlake
Family traveled the last 3 1/2 years with the Hansen
family as Kate fought leukemia. We have prayed,
hoped , eaten Chick-fil-A, and run for her
success! Her family acknowledges that part of
what got them through the last several years is good
friends and their Briarlake family. We are
thrilled to share this with you.

International Rescue Committee
Thanks Briarlake
We received a very kind thank you note
from the International Rescue Committee. Here is
an excerpt:
"We would like to thank you for your
generous non-cash contribution of school supplies on
August 7 to our Atlanta office. Your donation
helped us provide backpacks filled with school supplies
to over 130 children for their first day of
school. Your support helped children who have fled
war or persecution begin a successful future by
attending school well-prepared".
Wow! The power of
kindness. Thank you Ms. Berry for giving us
this opportunity to help
others.

Boy
Scouts
JOIN CUB SCOUT PACK 528! Calling all 1st Graders.
Interested in Cub Scouts? Come out on our Den
Orientation Night and sign up for a great year of
Scouting! We've already had our recruiting night, but
it's not too late to join.
Primarily during the
school year, Cub Scouts meet to do fun things with other
kids! They get to wear a cool uniform, go places, and
see things. They will be part of a "den," play games,
sports, and build things, like race cars and bird
houses. There is a reason for everything boys do in Cub
Scouting. Apart from the fun and excitement, the aim of
Cub Scouting is to help boys grow into good citizens who
are strong in character and personally fit. This is why
we say that Cub Scouting is fun with a purpose.
For more information email
communications@cubpack528.com or visit us on
the web at cubpack528.com and check out our
calendar to see the great year of Scouting we have
planned.
