| Book Fair Coming
soon--Get Ready to Read |
Briarlake, are you ready
to Read Around the World? The Scholastic Book Fair
is coming to Briarlake beginning Wednesday, November 18
and running through Friday, November 20.
The
Fair will be open before and after school and during the
Thanksgiving Lunches on Thursday and Friday. This is a
great opportunity to get some new books, get started on
your holiday shopping, and help out our teachers by
purchasing books from their "Wish Lists" - and a portion
of the proceeds stays at Briarlake! A letter will be
sent home soon outlining details. If you'd like to
help your child's school (it's a lot of fun, you get a
10% discount and you get to shop while you work!),
contact Randy
David-Faigin. Come on, we need your
help! Get ready to READ!

Starting November 16, Briarlake will
begin collecting food bags for Children's Healthcare of
Atlanta. Details coming
soon. |

News |
Briarlake will continue to
collect cell phones and their chargers, headsets,
and accessories, all year long. The
collection box is near the front doors. These
phones will benefit gorillas from the Democratic
Republic congo area. What an easy way
to reach out and help another part of the
world.
Ms. Berry,
our librarian, is collecting batteries all year as
well. We hope many of you are
enjoying the morning walks to school. Our
safety patrols are ready to punch a hole in your walking
cards each week. This is
Week
5. Remember
to walk or bike to school at least one day each
week to get your card punched for that week so that
at the end of 10 weeks we can enter your card into a
raffle for a prize. Walk to
Win!
Thank
you Green
Team!

| Running
Club |
In
preparation for Henderson Mill Elementary School's fun run we
will be doing our track club for the month of November. We
could do it on Tuesday afternoons from 3-4pm. With the
short notice, we will need support from parents to make it
happen. The dates would be November 10, 17, 24 and
December 1.
So from parents, we need a healthy
snack provided for each day (we typically assign 2 families to
each practice) and 1-2 parents to come to each practice to
help hand out stickers and assist in setting up our
water.
Parents need to send in a
note to Whitney Blackmore giving your child
permission to participate by Friday, then we can start it on
Tuesday. If you would like a track club
shirt, you can also let Whitney know, and what size they
need (YS, YM, YL, AS, AM, AL). The cost of a shirt is
$12 and we can try to get them in time for the Henderson
5K.... but we need to know by the first track club
meeting on November 10.
Sorry for the late notice! We just received the
information. Please see below for a link to sign
up for the run.

Blackmore
