It's time to start getting excited
about the Spring Gala on March 27th!
Book your babysitter now and come out for an
evening full of great food, fun, and friends. The
auction items are the best we've ever had, and it's the
perfect opportunity to get things such as (but certainly not
limited to) restaurant gift certificates, tickets to local
attractions, travel getaways, summer camp tuitions, art, as
well as a wide variety of goods and services - all at a
fraction of what you would normally spend.
Don't forget the wonderful class art projects
our craft parents are working hard on and the special
activities/outings donated by the teachers and staff!
Even if you aren't interested in shopping,
you won't find a better dinner and evening filled with
entertainment anywhere in Atlanta for the price of
admission. And, of course, the best part is that you are
supporting Briarlake Elementary by attending. Any

Fun Run - Saturday |

Habit 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run.

you require more registrations, please visit the front
office, click here or email Ms. Decker for a pdf you
can print at home. Registration Forms should be
dropped off in the front office. You can also
visit www.briarlakepta.org and click on the
5k Race. You will be directed to www.active.com where you can
easily register online. Make checks payable
to the Briarlake PTA.
The
awards will be held after the 1 Mile Fun Run is
over. So plan to stay and celebrate all the
finishers.

| Thursday Walking
Club |
PLEASE SUPPORT
OUR STEP COUNTER DRIVE!
The Thursday
Walking Club is off to a great start with more than 50
children starting the morning on the move. Step
counters have been the most popular prize for
participants so we need your help. If you have a
working step counter to donate to the school for our
walking club, we can start tracking our steps during the
second half of the program. We would like to do a
virtual walk across Georgia. If you have some
pedometers that you can part with, please drop them in
the box in the front office. Thanks so

| Math Night - March

Who: All Briarlake Students & Their
Parents
What: Math Night
When: Tuesday,
March 16th after the PTA meeting, 6:30 - 7:30
PM
Where: Briarlake Elementary
School
Why: To provide parents and students
with a fun way to practice math.
Join us for some challenging and fun math
games. Each grade level is planning at least 2 games for
students and parents to play. The games will also
be easy to make and do at home. Pre-K - 2nd will set up
activities in the cafeteria and 3rd - 5th grades will
set up in the gym. Come and get some great ways to
practice math with the family!

Club |
Track Club Participants: We have enjoyed our
time with this group of students and look forward to
running with you on Saturday. We will continue to
train with the first 30 students that sign up for the
Peachtree Jr. The Peachtree Jr. is a 3K race held
in Piedmont Park on May 22nd. We have no
affiliation with the Peachtree Jr. but see it as an
opportunity for the kids to run in a larger race.
Registration opened on March 1st. Information and
registration can be found online. If you are interested in
continuing, please email Mrs.
Blackmore.

Pictures |
|
Spring
pictures were taken on Tuesday and each child had a picture
taken. The proofs will be sent home in about two weeks.
You are under NO obligation to purchase any pictures.

helping. Many thanks to the teachers for your patience and to
Mrs. Berry for letting us invade the media

Running through Historic Atlanta - March 21st |
Please come out and support
your teachers as they participate in the ING. On March
21st, Ms. Cernoch and Mrs. Blackmore will be running in their
first FULL marathon. Mr. & Mrs. Foege will be
running in their first half marathon with Mrs. Kramer who will
be running in her second half marathon. If you are in
town, please come cheer them on as they take on the "healthy
habits" challenge! A course map can be found at the ING
Marathon website If you plan on coming to cheer them
on, please let them know so they can be sure to look for
you. They will need all the cheering they can get and
appreciate all the support. |
