BOX
TOPS
Continue clipping Box
Tops. Look for Box Tops on many different
products, not just food. Bring them to school in
August!
School Store Hours
Open Tuesdays, Wednesdays
and Fridays before school--7:35-8:00 a.m.
Volunteers needed! Contact Ellen Kersh to
help.
Entry to School After the summer's break-in,
the county installed a new front door entry system. This
new system is a bit tricky. To obtain entry when the
front doors are locked, you must push the bell-button on
the LEFT of the double doors, await confirmation from
the office by speaker, listen for a click,& then
quickly open the LEFT door. The office staff does not
have a remote-door- opener any more, so please be
patient. | |

School |
It's been wonderful to see so many
families out walking. Keep it up!
In addition, if you arrive for drive-through
pick-up BEFORE 2:15, please park on the LEFT side of the
driveway only. Traffic is still flowing with
people picking up students early for appointments or
staff needing to leave early for a meeting. With
cars parked on both sides of the driveway, people can't
get out.
Thank you in
advance!

| School Improvement
Survey |
As part of our school improvement efforts we have created
a short survey on Survey Monkey that we would like all of our
families to complete. Each family can complete it once
regardless of how many children they have attending
Briarlake. We are asking that parents complete it
within 1 week. The results will be compiled and used as
we focus on ways we can improve. We will identify
the results in our 2010-2011 Consolidated School Improvement
Plan. Thank you!
Dr. Culbreath
We will not be sending home a hard copy as this would
invalidate the data. Don't miss this opportunity to be
heard! Here is the link to
the survey.

| School Pictures-
September 1 |
Picture Day is
Coming! We will be taking individual and class
fall pictures on Wednesday, September 1st. We need to get
pictures of everyone: every student, every teacher and all
staff so please come prepared. These pictures will be used for
the yearbook so we would like to have everyone included.
Please note that the fall pictures are not themed so no props
or costumes, just regular, colorful outfits. You don't need to
fill out anything beforehand; each person will get their proof
packet with an order form by the end of
September. We will need volunteers for this event
and volunteering comes with benefits! It's easy and fun
and goes really quickly - we shoot from 8:00 am until around
lunch. You can email me directly to sign up to
volunteer. Nicole Spiro - School

Opportunity Briarlake Elementary is
offering a wonderful opportunity to promote family and local
businesses within the Briarlake school community.
We invite all businesses, as well as Briarlake
family businesses, to advertise in our 2010-2011 Student

and resources within our community, this is a great way to
make that known. Advertising in the Student Directory offers
just a one-time advertising cost with a yearlong period of
frequent and widespread exposure! Ad sizes and

| Green Team
News |
Go Green
Team Tip of the Week Reduce waste & stay
healthy - bring a reusable water bottle. You can bring your
water bottle to school for lunch and refill it throughout the
day. Also bring it to after-school and weekend
activities so you'll never have to go thirsty OR pay more to
drink from "disposable" plastic.
The Go
Green Team Needs More Members! If you care
about preserving our natural world and helping create a
sustainable future for our children, there's a place for you
on the Go Green Team. Whether you regularly have a few hours
to lend, just want to keep abreast of the team's efforts, or
fall somewhere in between, contact Susan Duderstadt at sudude@pol.net to be added to our
email list and learn about our needs, activities, and monthly
meetings.
Thank you Green
Team!

3-5th grade at all athletic abilities. This program is
so much more than running! The Briarcliff
